Snow has started falling in many areas around the country! Hopefully it will continue to pile up and we will all be riding soon. Mountain Skillz is proud to offer a series of FREE Avalanche Awareness Presentations specifically for snowmobilers and snowbikers throughout the state of Colorado the week of November 14-17! They will take place at select Polaris dealerships in conjunction with local snowmobile clubs. There is no charge, it is appropriate for ALL ages, and refreshments will be provided. The presentation is based on the Know Before You Go program developed by the Utah Avalanche Center and the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.
The program teaches a simple and straightforward 5 step system. 1. Get the Gear 2. Get the Training 3. Get the Forecast 4. Get the Picture and 5. Get out of Harm's Way! The first half of the presentation consists of a short video and slideshow explaining the program. The second half is an interactive question and answer session diving into more details. We will share multiple resources that are available to help you be aware of daily dangers and conditions from your local riding area and everywhere throughout the country. Additional item covered will be proper gear discussion & demonstration, shared personal experiences, how you can help your local avalanche center, and general preparedness!
